Inspiration
Romantic "INSCOPE ARCH" was built in 1873 by landscape architect Calvert Vaux during the gilded age of 1873. The Ruskinian Gothic Stone arch provided a vehicle bridge connecting the Central Park Zoo with the Pond. The elegant pink and grey granite arch provided a safe path for pedestrian traffic rather than competing with horseback riders and carriage drivers.
